Cookie policy

💡 Template — have this reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

The short version: PubquizTV only uses what is needed to make the app work. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar techniques, such as localStorage, also store information in your browser. In this policy, “cookies” covers both.

2. Which cookies we use

• •Session cookie — keeps you logged in after you log in with your email address. Lifetime: 30 days. It is an httpOnly cookie, so scripts on the page cannot read it. Only for hosts with an account.
• •Language cookie (lang) — remembers the language you chose. Lifetime: 1 year.
• •Team ID (cookie and localStorage) — a random ID that keeps guests in their team when they reload the page or come back later. It contains no name and no email address. Lifetime: up to 1 year.

These are all first-party cookies: they are set by PubquizTV itself and are not shared with anyone for advertising or tracking.

When you pay, the payment is handled by Stripe. Stripe may use its own functional cookies for security and fraud prevention; Stripe's own cookie policy applies to those.

3. No analytics, no advertising

We use no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels, and we do not follow you across other websites. If we ever add analytics, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

4. Do we need your consent?

No. The cookies above are strictly necessary to provide the service you ask for, or to remember a choice you made yourself. Under the ePrivacy rules (article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC; in the Netherlands, article 11.7a of the Telecommunications Act) such functional cookies do not require consent. That is why we do not ask for it.

5. Deleting or blocking cookies

You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Note that PubquizTV will then not work properly:

• •without the session cookie, you are logged out and need to log in again;
• •without the language cookie, you may see the site in a different language;
• •without the team ID, a guest may lose their team and need to join again.

6. Changes

If we change the cookies we use, we update this page. The date of the latest version is shown on this page.

7. Language

This cookie policy is available in Dutch, English, French and German. In case of differences the Dutch version prevails.
