A company quiz that brings departments together

A good company quiz is not a test of who knows the org chart best. With PubquizTV, colleagues play in mixed teams on their phones while a laptop on the big screen runs a real quiz show: live answers, a drumroll, standings and a final podium with confetti. It fits a staff party, a team outing, a kick-off or an end-of-year drink.

Questions everyone can answer

Keep insider knowledge to a minimum, so new colleagues and other departments are not left out. A good mix:

  • •Estimate questions about the company: “How many cups of coffee does the machine on the second floor make in a week?” Nobody knows, everybody can guess.
  • •Photo questions: baby photos of managers, “Whose desk is this?”, a photo reveal of the office twenty years ago.
  • •Guess the director's answer: the director or the team being celebrated answers live, the teams predict.
  • •General rounds: music, the year the company was founded, or the city where your office is.

💡 Read every question once with a newcomer in mind. If only people from one department can answer it, turn it into an estimate or multiple-choice question.

Mixing departments into teams

Make teams of three to six people and mix departments on purpose: one from finance, one from sales, one from the warehouse. Teams pick a name and join by scanning the QR code with one phone. With up to 30 teams in an unlocked party, even larger events can play together. Read more in our guide to a company party quiz.

Timing and colleagues who are not in the room

Fifteen to twenty-five questions take about 45 to 60 minutes; for a drinks reception, ten questions in half an hour are plenty. Colleagues working elsewhere can join via the link on their phone, as long as they can see the big screen, for example through screen sharing in a video call. Test that setup with practice mode, which plays with three automatic practice teams.

What you need

A laptop connected to a projector or large screen, internet, sound and a smartphone per team. Check beforehand whether the company network allows the laptop online. Building and testing is free; one event costs a one-off €59 for 90 days, with no subscription. Your next event within a year costs €39. See pricing.

Example questions

  • ❓ Estimate: how many cups of coffee does the office machine make in a week?
  • ❓ In which year was the company founded?
  • ❓ Whose desk is this? (photo question)
  • ❓ Which of these three products did we sell first?
  • ❓ Tea or coffee? (the director answers live)
  • ❓ Which department has the most plants in the office?
  • ❓ Name the song: the intro of the team's favourite Friday afternoon track (played by the host, the screen counts down)

Frequently asked questions

How many colleagues can play?+

An unlocked event has room for up to 30 teams. With teams of three to six people and one phone per team, that is enough for most staff parties.

Do colleagues need an account or app?+

No. They scan the QR code and play in their phone's browser. Only the organiser has an account.

Can several organisers prepare it?+

Yes. Add co-hosts: they can write questions, upload photos and present. That works well when every department contributes a round.

Can we play in several languages?+

The screen language is chosen per event: English, Dutch, French or German. You write the questions yourself, so for a mixed team you can add a translation to each question.

Can remote colleagues join?+

Yes, via the link on their phone, provided they can see the big screen, for example through screen sharing in a video call. Test the setup beforehand.
