A retirement quiz to send them off with a smile

Speeches are lovely, but a farewell quiz gets the whole room involved. With PubquizTV, colleagues, friends and family play in teams on their phones while the big screen shows questions about the career of the person who is leaving. Retirement, a new job or a farewell after many years at the club: the quiz turns memories into a game.

Questions about a career

Good farewell questions mix facts with stories that colleagues still tell. Think of:

  • •Firsts: the year they started, their first job title, their first desk or car.
  • •Numbers: estimate questions such as “How many working days did Pieter clock up?” The closest team wins.
  • •Photos: old team photos, a company outing from the nineties, “Whose desk is this?”.
  • •Plans: what they are going to do now, which the guest of honour answers live.

💡 Ask colleagues from different years for one anecdote each. With the AI interview you can turn those facts into questions; it never adds facts of its own.

Let the guest of honour play along

Use guess-the-answer questions: “What will Pieter miss least about the office?” Pieter answers live on stage, then you click his answer and the teams who predicted it score. It keeps the attention on the person you are celebrating, without anyone having to give a long speech.

Timing at a farewell reception

A farewell is often a reception with drinks and speeches. Keep the quiz compact: ten to fifteen questions, about 30 to 45 minutes, ideally after the speeches. An interlude screen (“Pieter, come to the front!”) is a natural moment for a gift or a toast in between rounds. Close with a photo reveal and the winner fanfare.

Practical

You need a laptop connected to a screen or projector, internet and sound; guests use their own phones and do not install anything. A meeting room with a projector works fine. Building and testing is free; one party costs a one-off €59 for 90 days, up to 30 teams. See pricing.

Example questions

  • ❓ In which year did Pieter start at the company?
  • ❓ What was Pieter's first job title?
  • ❓ Estimate: how many cups of coffee did Pieter drink at work?
  • ❓ Whose desk is this? (photo question)
  • ❓ What will Pieter miss least about the office? (Pieter answers live)
  • ❓ Which colleague shared an office with Pieter the longest?
  • ❓ What is the first thing Pieter will do after his last working day?

Frequently asked questions

Does this work at the office?+

Yes. A meeting room or canteen with a projector or large screen is enough. Check that the company network allows the laptop online, or use a phone hotspot.

Can colleagues who are not there join?+

They can join via the link on their phone. They also need to see the big screen, for example through screen sharing in a video call. Test this setup beforehand.

How do we keep the questions kind?+

Tease the habits, not the person. Run the questions past one colleague who knows the guest of honour well, and skip anything you would not say in a speech.

Who prepares it?+

Usually a small group of colleagues. Add them as co-hosts so everyone can add questions and photos, and decide together who presents.

How do we pay?+

Building and testing is free. Unlocking costs a one-off €59, paid with iDEAL, Bancontact or card. There is no subscription.
